i have several 1:10th rc cars that do really well but my 1:8th seems to tear up more and the 1:10th are usually cheaper also

Scale in size does matter:
- In fact, the bigger (1/5th scale's and 1/6th scale's) have to work harder to reach it's overall Top Speed.
- That means that an 1/8th scale would reach it's top speed quicker than a 1/6 scale.
+ But you can put in other powerful motors to revise that.- Also, the height off the ground affects the overall ammount of "under-air force" to your RC also...
+ So a Buggy would outrun a Monster Truck using the same engine, but the monster truck can tackle nearly any terrain.Hope this answered your question!

Scale is not an issue unless you plan to race. Then you will need the right scale car or truck to compete in each particular class. For example: You cannot race 1/8 nitro buggies against 1/10 electric buggies. The scales aren't the same. the speeds are different. The 1/10 will get knocked around pretty bad. 1/8 scales race against 1/8 scales. 1/10 vs. 1/10, and so on.
If you are only out having fun, then buy whatever you want and can afford. But the most important thing is to have fun! -

that depends on several things the make ,model and engine size and size of shaft but most are under 20$ and if it a traxas you might want to see if you can put in the electric start system
