Gas powered remote control cars are very powerful and fast and offer a realistic driving experience with advanced features. 
Electric remote control cars are easier for beginners to drive but they too are responsive and quick. Nitro fuel may contain castor oil, synthetic oil, or a mixture of both. When castor oil breaks down at high temperatures it creates a lubricating film -- desirable but somewhat messy. Electric power is often the chosen form of power for remote control aircraft, boats and of course, cars. Electrically powered RC cars aren't for wimps anymore; due to great improvements. Today's models are fast, powerful -- and quiet. Electric vehicles are usually slightly faster around the track because battery and motor power is more easily controllable, but the advantage is negligible. Larger nitro-- powered vehicles such as the k-scale on-road cars are amazingly fast and can run up to 1 hour. Electric cars are powered by an electric motor and electrical batteries. Generally the gas powered RC cars require a bit more maintenance compared to the electric cars, and therefore the electric are preferred by first timers in the hobby. Electric ready to run (RTR) cars and trucks usually require a charger and battery to operate and they are not included with purchase. The only time you choose electric is if you're in the market for an electric go kart!!
