Nitro Gas RC Cars: What kind of gas is best?

Posted on September 29th, 2008 in gas rc cars by Admin

I have recently purchased one of the nitro gas rc cars and it comes in 2 days.  This got me to thinking about what kind gas do it take?  Regular car gas can't be used right?
is it nitro or gas thats the question if its a nitro car you use nitro methane fuel get at your hobby shop now if its a gas car you use most likely mixed gas with oil but when you get the car look at the motor and pull the plug if it has a coil and just glows its nitro and if it has a spark plug like froma lawn mower its gas make sure you read the manual and research online if you dont have one hope this helps

Nitro Gas RC Cars: What is the Best Brand for 1:10 Scale?

Posted on September 21st, 2008 in gas rc cars by Admin

Is Tamiya or Kyosho nitro gas RC cars any good
I have a couple Kyosho's and an electric stadium truck, and I think both brands are very good.

Your best resource is a local hobby shop that has someone who knows about them. You can have a very long discussion about what kind of needs you have for the car.

As far as getting started in R/C, if this is a first car, nitro's are a lot more work, but the realism of the sounds and the longer run times can more than make up for that. Good luck and keep asking...

Gas RC Cars: Killer Problem for New Owners

Posted on September 16th, 2008 in gas powered rc cars, gas rc cars by Admin

One of the biggest complaints that new users of gas RC cars is the period of time when they are breaking in a new engine or trying to adjust it so that it operates effectively. In looking at various forums on the internet, including the biggest, RCUniverse.com, easily 70-80% of new owners of the gas powered RC cars find frustration in this; sometimes even returning their cars to where they bought them

Oddly enough, if they simply take the time to research their particular model and engine types as well as seeking out assistance from the more experienced owners the success rate will skyrocket. So the next time that you buy a new RC car, whether electric or gas powered, increase your chances of success by educating yourself on that car and you will be having fun with the car for a long time to come.

Gas or Electric RC Cars: Which is better for a Hobby?

Posted on September 11th, 2008 in gas rc cars by Admin

I have about $300 for purchasing either a gas rc car or an electric rc car and I want to know which will last longer cost affective easy for a beginner and that i can use it alot with other people. Tell me what its power source is and what model it is so i can get it plus it has to be 310 or less please help me out!

I have both and here is my opinion. For someone starting out go with electric no doubt! The gas models (nitro) are a pain to mess with due to a more complex engine that you need to tune the carb with temperature and humidity changes, have to keep a very close eye on engine temp. with a temperature gun ( more$), clean and flush the motor with after run oil after using it due to nitro draws moisture very easily and nitro fuel costs around $25 a gallon from my local hobby shop. There is a ton of stuff you need to buy and service you need to do to the motor to keep it in top condition. Electric on the other hand all you need to start is a truck, batteries and a battery charger. After using it you plug in the battery and thats it. To run for hours you will need a couple of batterys or a quick charger. I bought my son a Traxxas Rustler and am very pleased with it for a starter truck. Traxxas or Team Associated has several models that are nice but the Traxxas is a good brand with cheap easy to find parts. I hope this helps some!

Radio controlled Gas powered RC cars: Does anyone know a thing or two about ?

Posted on September 9th, 2008 in gas powered rc cars by Admin

Im looking to buy an rc gas powered car that costs under 200

I'm curious as to whether they use unleaded gas and what the life expectancy for one of them would be.

Has anyone ever bought one of these? Can you tell me from personal experience how well they perform and how long they run and where i can get one.

Im trying to find a website that can sell me a cheep (under 200) but good quality car. I have a few hobbie shops around where i live but their cars cost from 300 to 500.

I have always used Team Associated equipment on electric and gas cars. And NO they cannot use unleaded gas they require a special nitro fuel that is like 115-125 octane. They use a lot of it, its like $13 per gallon, and if you put 87 they wouldn't run and would trash it. I usually buy from tower hobbies but you could get it from ebay as well. My team associated electric car (does about 35 mph) is going on 30 years old with everything factory, except the motor/receiver. As for life expectancy for nitro motors, I haven't actually found mine yet and I have had it about 3 years with give or take 5 hours per week of running it. Just make sure you break the motor in the way the guide says, otherwise you will severly kill motor life.

You can always try eBay to find a bargain deal on gas RC cars.

Gas RC trucks: Are there Any For about $300

Posted on September 7th, 2008 in rc gas trucks by Admin

Are you able to buy gas rc trucks for around $300?

nitro is 2 expensive 4 me and someone told me that 2 stroke oil is 2 much hassle so any gas only trucks?

Any time you have a gasoline engine, no matter what size, it needs some form of parts lubrication, more specifically...oil. There are not any fuel powered RC cars on the market that dont require oil as an additive to the gasoline. The engine wouldnt last very long otherwise.

If you shop around online you can find gas RC trucks for $300 or less. You just need to look around a bit.

Nitro RC Cars,Gas Powered RC Car?

Posted on September 4th, 2008 in gas rc cars by Admin

Whats the difference between gas or nitro rc cars? Where can i find a really fast one and durable without it being too pricey?

The only gas powered rc's i have ever seen are in the 1/5th scale and are big cars and they run a two stroke motor which is regular pump gas that you put in your car but with oil added to it much like a weed whacker.

And nitro is used in almost all smaller scale trucks and cars. The biggest plus with a gasser is that gas is alot cheaper most nitro fuels cost around 30 to 45 dollars a gallon but you can get alot of run time off of a gallon of nitro fuel. The other difference is nitro is alot more maintence which means everytime you run it you have to clean it and there is alot of tuning involved to keep the motor running good. but like i said i havent seen many 2 stroke motors on anything excpet the 1/5 scale trucks and in airplanes.

1/5th scale trucks for a good one which I would never get anything except something from FG Motorsports if you are going to go with 1/5 scale and they start at about 1200 dollars with out radio or steering servos and are about 1500 dollars complete ready to run. If you want nitro and you want a car or truck i would check out the remote control vehicles ; there you will find alot of good trucks and cars for you. most of them will be between 200 to 600 dollars for a price range.

But remember after that you need to spend 30 to 45 dollars for a gallon of fuel, you will need to by batteries for the remote which is usually around 8 AA batteries and have lots of extras, they dont last long. You will most likely have to buy tire glue to glue the tires on the rims, you will need to by a battery and charger for the electric start which is anywhere from 20 to 100 dollars depending on how nice you want, you need around 4 AA batteries for the reciever. You will need something to fill the tank they have filling kits or you can use a funnel, and you will need extra glow plugs for the break in process which are about 5 bucks a piece some cheaper some more. And i would recommend extra spur gears or buy and metal racing on right off the bat. You will ruin alot of these beginning if you dont make sure the motor is tight. So start up is going to range quite a bit depending on what you want for a nitro truck. If you have never had one or are not mechanically inclined i would advise not to get one becuase they break alot and require alot of fixing that if you cant do it yourself you are going to spend a ton of money.

Also hop ups are very addicting and agin fixing is very spendy. I have a traxxas t maxx its a 4 wheel drive monster truck and i trash mine alot and run it until i break fix her up and go agin. Its a very tough machine and does about 45 MPH. You can also get cars taht out of the box go around 70MPH for about 350 dollars but remeber with speed you can screw up alot worse and there goes alot of money. I dont want you to think i am tryiing to talk you out of it but the costs and danger of losing alot of money but its there.

Just make sure you take your time and learn how the handle cause you can lose it all fast. but good luck hope you enjoy it they are alot of fun
